cPanel Hosting Description

For your info, it's useful to be aware that most of the cPanel hosting offers on the present-day web hosting marketplace are generated by a very insubstantial business segment (as far as annual capital flow is concerned) known as reseller hosting. Reseller website hosting is a type of a small-size marketing segment, which generates a big quantity of different web hosting trademarks, yet supplying the very same thing: mainly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Due to the fact that at least 98 percent of the website hosting offerings on the entire web hosting market offer one and the same service: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based hosting price tags are similar. Quite identical. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service almost no other hosting platform/hosting CP option. So, there is just one single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand web hosting brands in the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than two percent, mind that one...

Two hundred thousand "hosting firms", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely branded

The hosting "diversity" and the website hosting "offers" Google presents to all of us come down to merely one and the very same thing: cPanel. Under 100's of 1000's of different website hosting trademarked names. Suppose you are just a regular guy who's not very well acquainted with (as the majority of us) with the web page making processes and the website hosting platforms, which actually power the respective domain names and web pages. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any web hosting alternative you can decide upon? Of course there is, right now there are more than 200k web hosting vendors out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98 percent of these 200,000+ different website hosting brands all over the world will give you absolutely the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, branded in a different way, with the same price tags! WOW! That's how great the assortment on the present web hosting market is... Full stop.

The hosting LOTTO we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic shows that to run into a non-cPanel based web hosting corporation is an enormous strike of luck. There is a less than one in 50 chance that something like that will take place! Less than one in fifty...

The strong and weak sides of the cPanel-based hosting solution

Let's not be pitiless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and presumably fulfilled most web hosting market requirements. To cut a long story short, cPanel can do the job for you if you have only one single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Disadvantage No.1: An imbecilic domain name folder setup

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be extra careful not to remove entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each next hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are quite simple to remove on the hosting server, since they all are created into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very popular public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to remove the files of the add-on domains, please. See for yourself how terrific cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you getting bewildered? We categorically are!

Shortcoming Number Two: The very same mail folder system

The electronic mail folder arrangement on the web hosting server is strictly the same as that of the domain names... Making the same mistake twice?!? The admin chums strongly reinforce their belief in God when dealing with the electronic mail folders on the email server, praying not to botch things up too irretrievably.

Problem Number Three: An absolute absence of domain management user interfaces

Do we need to cite the complete absence of a modern domain name manipulation interface - a place where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or manage domain names, edit domain names' Whois info, protect the Whois info, modify/set up name servers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not have such a "contemporary" GUI at all. That's a vast problem. An unjustifiable one, we would like to add...

Negative Point Number 4: Numerous login locations (min 2, max three)

How about the need for an extra login to access the invoicing transaction, domain and tech support administration section? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel-based hosting vendor. Now and then, depending on the invoice transaction system (particularly made for cPanel only) the cPanel hosting firm is availing of, the devoted customers can wind up with 2 extra login places (1: the invoicing/domain administration section; 2: the ticket support GUI), ending up with a total of three user login locations (including cPanel).

Drawback Number Five: More than a hundred and twenty hosting CP areas to get familiar with... rapidly

cPanel presents for your consideration more than a hundred and twenty areas inside the web hosting Control Panel. It's a terrific idea to learn each and every one of them. And you'd better memorize them promptly... That's way too insolent on cPanel's side.

With all due veneration, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based hosting suppliers:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one too...
